Hi everyone

A year ago I purchased some powerfold mirrors for my facelift (04) freelander.

I got hold of a second hand switch (no relay or plastic door seals, or looms yet though) and thought it wouldn't be too hard to fit them in replace of the standard heated/elec but non - folding items.

I've read all the forum posts on powerfold mirrors and no part numbers are discussed. So you might say, OK, well ask at the dealer then. So I did.

I asked Landrover for the loom and the relay, and they pronounced there was no such thing for a freelander 04 sport. I said, correct but there is for a 04 sport premium and the HSE. They said they cannot fit this, as it's not an official part and suffice to say looked at my little LR diagarm (actual LR drawings) and said the diagrams of the parts and the numbers drawn didn't exist on their system as part numbers. (Maybe it was foreign).

Either way, regarding a retrofit upgrade of powerfold mirrors being impossible on a freelander facelift....

I know this to be untrue what the dealer said as I've read on the forum you can get two looms for the powerfold mirrors:

1 for Standard Audio
1 for Harmon Karmon Audio.

So my question is, if my LR Dealer won't tell me the part numbers, how do I find out please?

Maybe they know I'll try and buy them second hand?! I think theyre £170 each door or so ,that's what one electrian thought.
Then plus the new door seals and relay.

Thanks for any help, I can't think of any other way to find out to be honest unless you guys know.

Cheers.

You only need two bits of wire for both sides of the door. Rest of the loom is there. So you need 2 powerfold wing mirrors, one power fold relay ( about £30 from land rover) and a switch. And to bits of wire to go from the wing mirror plug ( there are 2 plugs in the powerfold mirrors) to a grey plug in the foot well on the door side behind the plastic trim. I got all the info I needed from the Haynes manual wiring diagram page.

You are looking at the orange and yellow wires which are going to this grey plug number C0369. When you find that plug you will see there are no wires coming out of the from the oppressive side of the plug and that it where your 2 bit of wire is needed. You are installing the red and black wire see diagram.

and if you can not do that I can show you a way of wiring them just need some wire a on of on switch preferable none latching but latching will do and 2 plugs for the connection onto the motors which I made out of some computer lead and 2 fuse holders plus fuses

The Part numbers are:

without harman kardon: YMM501900,YMM502200
with harman kardon : YMM502220...unknown:search:

No warranty given!!!

I need to say thank you to everyone who's posted the wiring diagrams that I can now give to a vehicle electrician as they look chinese to me and who offered other tips. Many thanks for your kindness.

Richestone. Apparently yes this can be done. However when I asked someone about this a while back, apparently if you do this, then the driver operated 'folding' switch doesn't work because the switch needs to be by-passed. I don't know if that is accurate though? The downside to this, for example, would mean if you're sitting in a car park with the ignition off and want to look in the mirror (E.g if you're waiting for someone etc) you can't because they'll be folded inwards as they'd auto-fold in when you park the car, addmitedly a useful feature that more modern SUV's have.

As I have the facelift I sent off for the powerfold relay (Ford Mondeo MK3) it was about £15 second hand, but can't find where to fit it! Does anyone know please? Maybe I should be looking under the engine bay or something, but that doesn't sound logical and it must be inside the car, maybe under the steering wheel?

I looked under the passenger side glovebox but can't find anywhere to plug it into. All I saw when pearing more towards the back of the centre console (near the heater blower pipe) was this in the attachment belo. I think the yellow plastic thing is a fuse for the boot and rear passenger 12v accessory sockets that I got fitted, and not a blanking unit (dummy) relay so I don't think I should pull it out, not that I could as it's impossible to get a grip on it!

Cheers.
