Have 2000 TD5 gs auto disco looking for power boost for towing unsure as to what is best chip the old girl or buy a plug in power box such as dastek unit but can't find out if dastek unit is compatable with the auto box?
what will be the best in the long term.

I just had mine done by JE Engineering at Coventry.

The very low speed pull is no better say under 1,500 rpm, but after that the difference is like having two engines when I deck the go pedal.

I have now driven the last 255 miles on under one-third of a full tank, so the MPG looks as good or better than it was.

I will be accused of spamming. What a shame.

dont do a plug in box... they fool the sensors into over fueling, not a good long term fix!

do a re-map which will take into account all the sensors with a different program in your ECU

there's very little difference off boost but the moment it kicks in....Whoa Nelly..!

Get it done properly with a replacement chip or flash upgrade. Had mine done by J Fearn. Makes a massive difference in everyday drivability. you will also find that the auto, once the t/converter is locked in over 55mph, unless you really hit the deck with the right foot will stay locked giving good pull from 60 to 90ish (on a private road:D). have a look on the TD5alive web site. some video's of chip disco's and defenders on there!
