Yea you got it, the steering is heavy, but it seems it like that for a while until it warms up, then its fine, then it will do it again, is there anything I can do about the sticking valve?

It doesn't take a lot of fluid, worth a try as old fluid won't help.But if your pump is on it's way out (you said the fluid is discoloured) then you are wasting your time and money.![]()

But if it is discoloured the its probably due to the pump on its way out. Changing the fluid will only postpone the inevitable. Do it soon, don't wait till you are on the hardshoulder, in the dark with a seized pump and the belt in tatters![]()
Power steering fluid just like auto box fluid deteriorates over time due to heat, new fluid can make an hell of a difference.![]()
