Power Steering Pipe Split. Will Ace Hose Repair work?

Hi all,

As the title says power steering pipe burst managed to limp the car home as it burst at the end of the street....

The ace system has been removed but some of the old pipes have been left behind.

If I was to cut the split pipe and use the hose from the ACE with some jubilee clips would the hose be sufficient for the pressure?

Could do with using disco later on

D2 PAS system pressure is upto 900psi at full lock according to the manual - so some very large forces trying to blow the pipe off.

Ok sound. So are we talking all new power steering line then?

Or can a hose repair like suggested be done but with a proper Powersteering or hydraulic hose? As there is hose on each end of the lines so the right hose must be able to handle the pressure

After doing some research this afternoon, theres plenty of hoses capable to withstand the 900psi... Problem would be the clips used to attach it... The strongest jubilee clips only appear to have a breaking point of around 300psi mark.

New pipes it is...

Yes, the hose is usually not the problem, it's typically the connections.
If you have difficulty getting the correct assembly, you could ask a hydraulic hose specialist make something up for you. There is usually a few in most towns.

I had one split once. I just welded it up. Still okay now after a few years service. It's on my shipping list but we all know how that goes
