just wondering if any one else has had to put in spacers to get the power steering belt to fit and allow adjustment. I had to put in two bolts to space out otherwise the belt would just hand loose on full adjustment of the pump. This is a 200 tdi defender engine not a discovery engine swap.

how did you manage to space it out and still get the other bolts in ,you can buy smaller belts but not from lr

used two bolts longer than the original bracket bolts and the third bolt that holds on bracket was sheared of in the block. Used two 17mm head bolts as spacers with spring washers. All tight and firm this has had no effect on the alternator belt adjustment. Had to turn pump slightly as pipe unions were touching chassis.

ive know quite a few come loose and shear bolts ,belts are availible

Sorry for waking this thread up but i have just found this thread on you tube looking at alternator conversion, anyway i have a similar problem only with mine the holes where the two bolts / studs  go through the steer pump bracket into the timing case are smashed so there is nothing in that area holding it in place and the other bolt that goes through into the block is snapped in the block so really only one bolt holding it all on the one that goes through the other way into the pump bracket, i only found this a few months after buying the landy last year and just kept an eye on it.

i do plan to sort this but will do it properly once i take the engine out when i do the chassis swap, but also with mine being a defender 200tdi fitted into a 2.5td 90 the air filter has been fitted in a bad spot so every time i need to do anything on that side of the engine the air filter box and intercooler hoses have to come off so was thinking to take some weight off the power steer pump bracket i could move the alternator to the other side of the engine, i know it sounds a bit long wind'd but it saves me pulling the front of the engine down till i get round to doing the chassis and it also makes it easier getting to the alternator aswell :)
