Hi all,
a little direction if you please.
Its not major but it feels like I'm down on power. Engine revs fine but with what i would discribe as 'bobbling' untill about 2000rpm. Car now seems to shake more at tickover, when driving the revs rise fine but the car does not seem to respond as quick as it did! Going to do minor service this weekend, oil, filter, air filter, HT leads and plugs. What else should I check? Fuel filter?
Any advice on which leads and plugs?
4.0 V8 2000 'W'
cheers.

Diff oil was sludge on mine and made a huge difference when I replaced it. Could be worth cracking the fill plug and check the quality of the oil. Gearbox oil would be good to change too.

If you don't know when liquids and filters were last changed. Change them all.

+1 on the diff oil. Just changed mine & made a big difference - much smoother.
What mileage you on, could possibly be cam wear???

Good luck with the HT leads, if you've got hands bigger than a 3 year old you may struggle a tad.

lol, that easy eh! damn my 3 yr old for growing up to 21 with bigger hands than mine.

I'm on 127000mls. The rough running came on from one perfect drive to the rough one. Not slowly is what I mean. I'll do the service then take stock. I have read about cleaning everything from the air box to the intake manifold and checking for any split pipes. I went greenlaning just before so maybe a loose wire or something.

Car has service history, every six thou oil and filter religously but no mention of any other fluids or filters.

It's just as likely to be a coil pack gone for a burton, coil packs are two pairs - each supplies the spark to two cylinders (simultaneously in a "wasted spark" system) an easy way of checking is to use those little sparky caps and compare the spark to the other cylinders. A pair of cylinders will show a weak or non existent spark, they are paired 5&8, 2&3, 1&6 and 4&7. If one of the pairs is firing fine then it's a duff HT lead or spark plug.

From the front of the car looking at the engine the cylinders are numbered

8-7
6-5
4-3
2-1
