Hi there, can anyone help please?

Mine is a 2001 1.8 petrol Freelander, currently suffering from intermittent loss of power which feels as though the engine is being starved of fuel for short spells. The problem corrects itself after a few seconds and then repeats. This happens when the engine is hot AND cold.

Sometimes the engine management light flashes and then goes out when the problem corrects itself.

The fuel pump has been cleaned but the problem persists.

Any ideas please?

check the rotor arm. I've had a couple of these recently with the same symptoms as yours. After about 3 or 4 days they eventually cut out and wont restart. How long has yours being doing it now?

Thanks for the reply.

On and off it's been doing it for about three weeks but it is becoming increasingly more frequent and more severe.

I will check the rotor arm, thanks for the advice.

Just realised my car hasn't actually got a rotor arm. It is the camshaft sensor/ECU type.

Back to the drawing board?

Problem solved.

It turned out to be one of the HT leads.

One of them had a chafe on the outer sheathing which I think might have been causing the problem. Anyway, a new set of plugs and two new HT leads has solved it.

Thanks for the replies/help.
