Hi guys, sorry if this is in the wrong place, I couldn't find an electrical specific section.

just after a little advice. Basically there's water getting in somewhere as it only happens when it's wet/raining/snowing etc.

It's a 2000 90 Td5

What's happening is when you put the lights on the fog light and brake lights come on and stay on permanently, or if the lights are off when you press the brake pedal the side lights as well as the instrument panel illuminate.

I've checked everywhere I can think for exposed or broken wires, taped up any exposed wiring and connectors yet its still doing it. I'm pretty sure it's originating from the fog light loom somewhere in the rear drivers side wheel well but can't see owt wrong. I've checked all earth straps and been round and checked all the bulbs, making sure there the right ones. Still can't see owt wrong.

It's really doing my head in now and I'm as sick as a chip with it. Any help is appreciated.

Cheers in advance.

Just swap the lights out if your worried, it's a quick and easy job and new lights are about £7 each, it sounds like your earths so I would check there, a decent power probe makes life so much easier as well

Have you got a trailer socket? Could be a loose wire in there or water ingress as fog lights, brake lights, side lights etc all have contacts in there

Have you changed any blown bulbs recently? As I had similar problem pressed the brake the head lights came on, it turned out to be a fault with the rear tail light after changing the blown bulb. So put new complete lights in nice cheap fix like Jongould says.

Cheers guys, yes there is a trailer socket been mounted next to the rear fog, so I presume it'll be spurred into the fog light/rear light loom for a live feed?

mkdef110dc, yes I removed the fog light bulb as it was continually on, taped up the connections and refitted the lense. I've checked it and there's no obvious signs of it ever being damp, so I don't know, maybe it could be that?

jongould, cheers for that price I think I'll just do that. Seem the quick fix.
