Possible battery replacement?

Hi all
Haven't used my D3 much lately due to lockdown. Today I went out and on start up I got a special programs not available message but then went away. When driving I then got a transmission error limited gears only message and to top it off a fast flashing rear indicator. Checked and one not working. Any thoughts on this please. Thanks

The special programs off message is an indication that the battery voltage didn't hold when cranking. This is a sign of a failing or discharged battery.

Gearbox issue needs a code read, to see what's up with it.

The fast flashing rear indicator, suggests the front indicator bulb has failed.

Thanks. I'm getting the battery voltage checked this afternoon. With the fast indicator this is flashing fast inside when checking around the vehicle the rear passenger side isn't working.
The transmission error came on about 5 mins after driving (limited gears) with a F on the dash. After restarting the engine it was ok. Could this be a battery issue also? Thanks for your input

That's pointless, unless you're testing that alternator output. Battery voltage it's a good gauge to it's current capability when cranking. If the battery is more than 3 years old, consider it scrap value only.

Get a suitable replacement, with at least 900CCA cranking capability.

Possibly, although it'd be more normal for electronic errors to appear at startup, rather than when running.

If it re-appeares, you'll need a code read, although I would suggest anyone with a complicated vehicle like the D3 to own a suitable diagnostic reader anyway.

Does not take much lack of use to kill a modern car battery.
Started my d3 for the first time in two weeks yesterday, she werent happy and it took at least 3 seconds of cranking before she fired, couple of susp errors that cleared when I exercised the susp up and down.
Weak batteries can cause all sorts of issues on the d3.

If battery duff you want an 019 battery, Yuasa from Halfrods are decent, more so if you have a trade card.
