What ho all.

My rear windows seem to have gone a little wild on my Disco 4. I could take it back into the dealer of course but I just wondered if there was something simple to be done. If I put the windows up, they hit the top stop and then roll halfway back down again. The only way to get them up is bit by bit.

I've had that on cars before and they just needed calibrating by putting them fully up and then back down again. Either that's not the problem or I'm not doing it right because it's not working in any case.

Any ideas?

If it's a D4 it's a warranty issue isn't it and therefore a return job. get LR assist to come and collect it and return it once repaired. Might as well get some return on ya investment :D

Yup. All that happens is when they hit the stops, in either direction, they just bounce off and either start going up or down again, depending on the way you are winding them in the first place. Will have to drop it off at the dealer but just wondered if there was anything else I could do first to save me the hassle.

Well, it turns out it DID just need recalibrating but it was a bit fiddly. Because I couldn't do the usual of all-the-way-down and all-the-way-back-up (because when it got all the way down in automatically went all the way back up again all by itself) I gave up. However those happy chaps at the dealership sorted it in about 5 mins.

You never realise just how annoying some problems have been until they've gone. I've lot count of the number of times I've been flying down the motorway and accidentally wound the rear window down by mistake and spent the next 100 miles with roaring wind in my ears whilst I try to coax the damned thing back up again. All's well that ends well.
