Ok I think that this has been raised before but here goes.

My 204 TD5 is like a boat. My wife complains like the witch she is about being bounced around inside the Disco on roads.

At 2004 should I just replace the old bushed with new rubber ones or poly bushes.

If I fit poly bushes will the ride be smoother and will the Disco handle better. I know on roads with humps and dips I am nearly sea sick never mind the wife.

Cheers

When I asked for my Disco one the general consensus was poly is a waste of
time and if you really wanna replace them go rubber but the difference isn't
likely to be much. You have an offroad vehicle, they bounce rather than their
wheels shattering.

Want a harder ride? fit stupidly big wheels with stupidly thin tyres but make
sure they are strong wheels...

Ok I know it an off road vehicle by design but the next bump I hit I don't want to off the road if you know what I mean.

Are you sure your shocks are ok? My defender was similar, 10 year old shocks were the problem.

Bouncing on roads with humps and dipps is crap shocks.

A wise-man once said. Good suspension should have Soft springs firmly damped :) it couldn't be any truer for a road car.

Polybushes won't make that much of a difference over rubber ones in good condition.

If anything, polybushes will only make things rattle and squeak more.

Wot DaveM said! Polybushes are less compressible than rubber counterparts, thus reducing the movement of the parts constrained by the bush (oo-err missus!) My own opinion is that they're ideal for fast road track and race cars which don't use rose-jointed suspension arms where compliance can be a a bad thing.

Diff.

Hi NIRover, I also have a 2004 TD5 and the ride has never been brilliant. The biggest improvement was when I swapped from 18 inch wheels to 16 inch wheels. The ride still leaves a lot to be desired but is better than it was.
