hi everyone i was driving along earlier and the car cut out (been having a few issues with lpg) not sure if anything to do with it but thought i should mention anyway started and carried on driving and then got the gearbox fault msg flash up on the display and lost the gear selector display shortly after no d when in drive etc and gear chages seemed not as smooth as normal and when slowing down quite jerky as it went down the gears stopped the car and turned ign of and on and the fault msg gone and displays are as they should be and drives ok again so dont know what to do now also checked the fluid level with the dipstick and cant tell clearly whether rite amount or not as there is fluid on the stick but no definate line inbetween the 2 holes should i take this as there is no atf fluid in there or not any advice would be much appriciated as supposed to be taking the kids sealife tomoz and dont want to makeit worse so need to sort another car out if gonna do more damage than good thanks in advance and sorry its abit long winded lol

hi ive had this prob before for some unknown reason the gears seem very jerky then gearbox fault appears,i found out it happened mostly if you pull the shifter through the gears to quickly almost instant gear selection, let the transminsin cool down then check the levels on the stick dont hold me to it but i think its idling in (N) when cold, hand brake applied.this happened a few times on one of my old p38 i owned for years but once i turned off the engine and restarted it it was fine for another 12 months or so the gearbox never failed just one of them things i guess good look will

thanks mate will check the levels tomoz and see what there like have sorted another car now just to be safe also have noticed a slight whining noise over the last month or so may be connected as not the engine only does it when your going along (in gear) maybe a trip to the garage is due will let you know how i get on anyway

hello mate, hope you find the answer to your problem as i too have the same GEARBOX FAULT.pain in the arse,my car just dies, out of the blue, loose p/steering everything.i too think it maybe something to do with trying to race the engine too quick.its happened to me twice after attacking a hill at a decent pace?maybe an oil/filter change is called for.

Read this thread and then moved on to the one about fuse box problems. Lokk for the post from TOMMO138 where he offers a link to a site on fuse box repairs. In there I found some-one talking of loss of power, gearbox warnings and even loss of ability to change and all linked to an electrical fault in the fuse box which, seemingly, can clear itself. Might be worth a read.

thanks mate will take a look have checked fluid levels this morning and are fine so not that will have a read anyway and see how it goes i guess will let you know how i get on

did check the earths as have another electrical fault that keeps showing every now and then but may have to have another look if the probs continue
