I have been having trouble with tick-over and the lights dimming, found the alternator to be loose and moving all the time,
mechanic mate came round to see if he could sort it and found the following;:jaw:

Its a 2003 Td4, my concern is I cant find any brackets for the alterantor listed anywhere on the www.
does anyone know if its a bracket or part of the block..
If its a bracket does anyone have a spare or know the part number for it??

Thanks in advance..

Dunno Freelander at all .. but could it be this part?

Thanks Very Much Paul,
I have seen this part but its for the K series engine,
and it doesn't list for the Td4..looks very much like the
part I need though..maybe if nothing else turns up I may
be able to use that instead..

Would be nice to get the correct part though if I can..

In fact, this is it ..

No worries, glad to help .. ;)

I had the alternator replaced new year time, and all was well
I then had some work done on the exhaust manifolds and that
garage mentioned that it had come loose, so they tightened it
up, so either place could have started the damage by over
tightening the bolt,,
I thought it would have been easier to add a little lock tight..

But They say I am no mechanic...LOL

I have ordered a new bracket from Land Rover as its cheaper than
the other on-line outlets I tried £34.96 inclusive..

Then to fit it all back together,,thanks again for your help Paul..
Pages in favourites now..

I bet they tightened it up with air tools ,which is totally wrong all nuts and bolts should be tightened up with a torque wrench ,even wheel nuts

New part collected today £30.77 with a little help from a descent guy behind the counter..

Very happy indeed..fitting on Thursday so all up and running again by the weekend..
