please help

ok here we go again,

i need to top the tank up every 2 days with water about a litre,
just pulled the top hose off because it did not feel very full started it up (already warm) and water started to flow after a few seconds so water pump is working,
i have bypassed the matrix now so that eliminates that,
the bottom hoses at the thermostat are completly different tempretures so possibly the stat is ****ed,
but that would not explain the loss of water though??
the water tank is piping hot aswel.

i no ur just going to say change the stat but is there anything else i could do before i come to terms with the fact my head gaskets are shot??

oh and its a 98 4.6 v8

Not sure how the stat would cause a loss of water, unless it is stuck closed and the engine is cooking, the resultant over temp and pressure would expell the water out of the expansion tank overflow and through the pressure releif cap....

Do you have abnormal temperature readings or hissing and escaping coolant from the expansion tank??

A stat stuck open wouldn't normally be a cause for losing water, it would just mean the engine runs cooler and takes longer to warm up....anyone have any thoughts on this??

My guess would be to have a static check down on the system and a gas sniffer test too, to see if there are any exhaust gases in the water....

If it ain't leaking the water, it is ingesting it somewhere....

What is your engine temp, were the heaters blowing hot before you disconnected them.

Do u have any kind of missfiring?

does it misfire when you start it first thing in the morning ?
