Hi to all.

I have a discovery 2 td5 1999 es. I have a small problem of water getting inside the vehicle on the drivers side right in the bottom right had corner of the floor ? if you put your finger at the side of the carpet between the trim you can feel water on the floor ? I had this same problem before, she had a new screen fitted due to a crack and after a few weeks it leaked so they came and fitted a new one again and then it was ok. but not long after i got this problem again with water getting in but it was not leaking in the same place as before from the top down ! this time now it leaks as i said in the bottom right had corner only i just cant see where it is comming from !
so i changed the door rubber for a new genuine landrover part and thought this would solve it which it did i thought ! but then it was the start of summer so we did not have much rain and it was hard to tell. But now we have had alot of rain it still is getting water in somewhere EVEN NOW ? The sunroofs are not leaking as the roof is all dry, the scuttle under the bonnet where the polen filter is, is not blocked and where the main harness comes through the bulkhead on the drivers side is also bone dry too ! i cant think of many more places for it to come in  ? When you put a hose on the car i cant get it to leak anywhere but i think it leaks when it is left in rain after a period of time 3-5 hours ? I have the trims off around the seat now and the carpet up with newspaper underneith to keep it dry for now :( !
Has anybody had this problem before ? it is such a small problem but i dont want it to destroy the carpet and start rotting the floor !

Many thanks if you can help !

I had water dripping through a bolt holding the dash support bracket to the inner wing, so remove the kick panel and with a torch have a look for a water stain, it only took a dab of roofing mastic over the bolt head and around the bracket to stop the drip.

Hi discool.

Thanks for your quick reply :D. Yea i will take the kick plate off tomorrow and have a good look around for water stains, leaks etc.

This sounds a bit stupid of me but the kick plate is that the trim under the dash board just above the pedals "black colour" or is it the trim beside the accelerator pedal ! Well i think i will take both trims off so i can have a good look around anyway.
Once i have got both trims off if i cant see no water stains i will get inside and get a mate to spray the side of the disco with the hose to see if it is coming through.
This water leak has been driving me crazy and hopefully this maybe the answer. I will let you know how i get on.

Thanks again for you time Discool..

Hi Ross, thats what I did watering over the lower corners of the windscreen and eventually saw a drip only one a minute or so but over the day/night time thats a lot of drips. The trim is by the pedal on a D1 just two screw buttons and a bit of the door seal hold it.
Let us all know the out come.

Pete

I had a similar dilemma - but the leaks were coming through the seatbelt ports by the shoulders. I'd turn right and my passenger would get wet, turn left and I would. Couldnt fathom it as the headlining was dry still. I had a good poke round the sunroof at the front and cleaned the drains and it seems to have stopped.

Now it just drips in around the rear door - can't seem to stop that one though. Seals look good, and conditioned them with some Autoglym rubber and vinyl conditioner - no joy. Will be trying old fashined vasoline tomorrow to see if that helps.

Looking forward to finding out how you get on.
