Hi could anyone please help me, I have a Freelander TD4 2004 SE
The Alam has started to go off intermittently, I've had a good look around
hooverd everywhere in side the car in case of spiders (dont no if a small thing like that would set it off anyway), closed all air vents off.
the alam goes off maybe once or twice a week then it will be fine for a couple of weeks, then starts going off for no reason again... at all times day and night.. much to my neighbors moans... the car is kept on my drive away from the road and anyone passing, cant afford to take it to a garage for an electrical check, im pritty handy on the mech side of things.
so any help advise would be most welcome :confused::confused:
ALSO DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN LOCK THE CAR WITHOUT THE ALARM BEING SET.....

Seems your post has morphed itself onto three separate sections,

Freelander

General chat

and common faults

not only do you have fault with your Freelander but seems like your PC is faulty too!:welcome2:

All locking methods activate the alarm siren in the event of forced entry.
If you lock the car with one turn of the key in the drivers lock once then the internal protection is not activared, necessary if passengers/dog are left in the vehicle. Using this method would at least check if it was the internal system that was causing the problem.

ps: There is a good description of the locking /alarm system in the Owners Handbook, why not spend a few momens reading it?

do you have taxi's passing as the frequency is very close to the alarm system i cured mine I told the drive I am going to report him as his radio must be putting out more watts than permitted it has not happend again he was flabergasted when i told him he said he did not understand watts I said i do as i am a radio ham

i had the problem a while ago and found that the aerial was leaking onto the alarm sensing unit in the roof, took the aerial out a sealed it up, as been ok since:amen:

i also turned my heater control knob to the midway point marked with a dot.

The security sytem on your car stores the last four alarm trigger events. An independant should not charge more than £30-40 to read the ecu for you.Rather than endlessly messing around this is the easiest and cheapest way to sort it out.
