We have a 04 TD4 Freelander Sport which intermitantly takes 15 to 20 seconds to start, we have found that we can accurately predict if the car will start or not, if the glow plug indicator on the dashboard iluminates it starts if it doesnt it wont start we have now become obsesed with watching the damn coil light. I have tried to reset by removing the key and starting again with no difference. Is there a unit in the car that controlls the glow plugs or are thay controlled via the ecu???

there should be a glow plug relay that controls them

there is a relay which controls the glow plugs, but with the td4, they are only on for a brief time, in the summer, you probably won't see the light come on at all.

could be something besides glow plugs, maybe cam sensor, or injector fault.

good luck
