Plastic mesh/grill base for roof rack?

Anyone know of a supplier of plastic mesh/grill panels?

I have three roof bars on my 110, I'd like to have the option of fitting a removeable plastic mesh base/floor to the roof bars, perhaps secured with plastic ties, as and when needed. Each summer I carry loads of tree/laurel cuttings on my roof but they always scratch the paint.

Waffle boards would do it, but they arent cheap, and I dont really need them to be as strong.

Anyone know of a supplier?

why not just make yr own frame up and use summit like chicken mesh/wire?

all seems a bit flimsy to me. 10mm thick ply? 2 U bolts per roofbar. solid platform.

Good suggestions, thanks. I was thinking of using a waffle board type surface so the wind can blow through it when driving at speed(ish).

I don't know what application this type of product would be made for, perhaps some kind of flooring? Using waffle boards would at least have a dual purpose, but i would need perhaps 4 of them, and they are £50 or so each. Was hoping for a one piece mesh about 8t x 4t.
