Has anyone bought one of these, I have to replace my fuel tank on a SIII SWB 2 1/4 Petrol. Seen these for sale and thought might be a good idea as it should not get rusty and leak like the last one!! Anyone got any views?

Cars have been using plastic tanks for ages, popular on boats too, allthough I believe condensation is an issue, dunno why you'd have thought steel 'd be worser.

Hi all.

I used to work for nissan in the plastics shop (bumpers and tanks etc) majority of tanks manufactured were plastic tanks (blow moulded). steel tanks were special order for very dry areas of the world and sourced from outside the factory. every tank made was tested by pressure filling with helium in a vacume to test for leaks the test margins were very strict (for example a car tyre with the same leakage would take 32 years for the air to leak out). If they are good quality tanks then i would definetly buy one compared to a steel tank.

Anyone got any links as i've never seen these before and i've just bought a new steel one!!

Cheers.

im looking for a pastic tank to use for water

i know drinking water tanks are diffrent grade plastic and all the h&s **** but i will live

i'm after a new tank as i keep puncturing mine lol, but mine is going in the rear tub! i am gonna be folding the sheet myself and getting a pro welder to weld it up as my welds don't seem to be fuel tight

Weld it yourself then get it pressure tested, you may be suprised at how well you can weld? or you may have to pay someone to patch up the weaker joints, but may be cheaper to patch up your welds rather than pay a pro to weld the full tank?

jus a thought!

I am sure I have seen these in a catalogue possibly Bearmach. It was a while back but I will have a hunt and let you know exactly where I did see one, I have a funny feeling there were some on e-bay as well?

Pob's, you can get reasonably cheap water tanks from a chandlers or a caravan shop, theres a load of diffo shapes available, and their meant for drinking water.

'pends on how much you need to store, but we found the best value to be IBC 1,000 litre tanks, available from about £25 upwards.

We run rainwater recycling here that feeds the bog, the washing machine, the animals and outside taps, hooked up to three of those IBC tanks. Gotter keep them in the dark though or the water goes green.

dr pepper i have seen caravan water tanks but its finding a tank to fit under the n/s seat
see i got twin milletry tan ks at the min and im converting her to a camper so stands to reason to remove 1 fuel tank with isnt conected anyway and replace it with a water tank

do a search for plastimo tanks, a mates boat has one, looks like a good size for under a seat, it fits well under his cooker.
