Plasti Dip Opinions over Wrap

been thinking about plasti dipping my landy or wrapping it
Anybody had any experience with it etc

Ive used Plasti Dip on Quads and it worked pretty good, when you get a scratch just spray over it and all is well, it doesn't offer as a robust protection as a vinyl wrap but did a fair job for the abuse we gave them..

like the idea of redoing it rather than having to get a wrap redone if it scratches & hopefully help Curb the ally corosion

If plasti-dip is the process of dipping individual parts ( as the name suggests) the bulkhead will be a lot of work compared to wrap?

Plasti-dip can be sprayed on like regular paint, theres no reason to really strip anything just apply to whats seen.

As above I wonder how much Plastidip would be needed for a 110?

for a complete kit its about the £400 mark there is a company over here
but there is a few kits avaliable on fleabay

15 liters will do a focus sized car so i think about 20 to 25 lts should do it

Plasti dip is expensive and peels off instead of scratching, I dont think I'd paint a whole vehicle with it. My brother sprayed the wheels on his VW van with plasti dip from rattle cans, looked good and pretty durable (until his misses curbed them) its nearly £20 a tin tho

Rattle cans are an expensive way of doing it you can buy a full kit including electric spray gun for £400

you can spray with normal paint for less than half that though

Pete! did you plasti dip your landy? I was just going to start a thread about plast dip and saw your thread! There are a few option apart from plasti dip! Ive seen a few places in the uk selling dip but called liquid dip, its exactly the same same stuff but cheaper. Loads of vids on youtube about it and they pressure wash it. Not sure how durable it would be green laneing but should hold up well i think. The bonus is it peels off when yor fed up of the colour! It used to be matt colours but now you get metalics, pearl, and gloss.
I have a earlex 5500 airless sprayer which i must say is fatastic at spraying anything, it has a 2.0 needle but i think you would need a 0.8 -1.0 to get good atomisation!
As a test i started doing my alloy wheels yesterday, i have done one so far as its been bloody foggy over here so i had to take wheel off to do in garage! I used the spray cans (1 can per wheel) 6 coats, 15 mins between coats! I must say i think it looks great but will be avoiding all curbs! I'll post some pics of the process if anyone is interested.
