This one is for Defender Owners in France. I recently took my Defender in for its pollution control Technic ( French MOT). Pleased to report it passed, but a comment the guy made was I didn't have a Plaque de Tare displayed on the nearside of the vehicle. I queried it with the guy who then showed me on his computer and the Carte Gress that it should have one. I have had the vehicle for five years, its been through three control technic's without one. Has anyone else come across this? The Plaque de Tare has the following displayed on it
PV: 1,330T
PTAC: 2,930T
PTRA: 6,430T
IxL 1.79 x 4,56M
S: 8,23 m2
From what I can make out my Defender has a maximum carrying weight of 1600 Kilo.

Tare Weight is the weight of an unladen vehicle or container. I wonder if we get that from a French term?

Yes, along with Italian and Arabic

The word tare originates from the Middle French word tare "wastage in goods, deficiency, imperfection" (15c.), from Italian tara, from Arabic طرح ṭarḥ, lit. "thing deducted or rejected," from taraha "to reject"[2]

does it got a empty weight and a max weight Tag some where?

If you need one then make your own, that's what I did for my pajero when I imported in France.
What you need on the plate is;
chassis number,
front axle,
rear axle,
kerb weight,
maximum weight,
combined weight. This is the loaded weight of the car and trailer.

A bit of ally plate and a set of letter stamps with do.
