Made up my mind to sell. Not being used so taking space up and I'll be getting my 2 door back soon.
Bought it in March 2013, at 130000km. The engine had been replaced at 122000km with Turner top hat liner rebuild with Kent 180 cam. ECU has tornado chip and magnecor leads. Springs and shock absorbers replaced.
The vehicle exhibits no chassis corrosion and what body corrosion I have found I have fixed, the last being the front offside lower wing which was repaired and repainted. The same to the bonnet, the rear corners at the lights, and the rear window seals replaced and roof painted. Sun roofs have had seals replaced and drains checked out.
Chassis has had dinitrol cavity wax treatment annually and dinitrol exterior wax applied to chassis and exposed body parts annually. All sponge insulation removed, floor coated in dinitrol and new closed cell insulation fitted.
From the work I've had to do on my 2 door I know that the body mounts and floor are sound!

Stagg LPG sequential system fitted in 2014, annual services completed with new injectors in 2021. 2 cill tanks fitted behind side steps.
Uprated brake discs fitted with new front callipers in 2014.
LHS spherical housing replaced in 2021 with new ABS sensor.
Exhaust Manifolds replaced and treated with ceramic heat resistant coating in 2021
New stainless exhaust with catalysts replaced in 2021 (Rimmer Bros parts).
New pump fitted Feb 2022.
MOT until 1st Aug 2022
Tyres are still ok with decent tread
Interior needs work as headlining is marked with glue from previous owners fixes, but not droopy
Leather seats need a little attention for cracking but no tears or bad damage.
ABS works fine with new front sensors fitted.
Transfer box diff log and low gear engages ok.
Rear windows work as Ive repaired the controller.
Car has 13 pion electrics and witter tow bar
Bad bits are:
Cruise control was disconnected when I bought the vehicle, not needed so not bothered with it.
AC doesn't work, again not needed even in the south of France in summer, the car includes the rear acu unit in the rear LHS of the boot.
I've removed the stupid little seats out of the boot, but I have them and the fasteners stored.
I have a folder with all the receipts for parts and work completed.
It will also come with
Spare rear seats, spare rear interior trim, spare ecu and maf, spare working window ecu, spare coil and simonbc rotor arm. I also have a spare passenger airbag and a complete Thor type inlet manifold including injectors that I was going to change with Megasquirt but will not be doing now including a complete top end gasket set (boxed and unopened from Rimmer Bros). There may be some other bits as well.
It currently has a full tank of lpg and 2/3 tank petrol.

The ask for it is a reasonable £1500. If no one wants the car I'll consider stripping it for parts.

Some pictures attached here, I'll add more if requested.

Cheers

Okay, no interest so as it is not used I'll scrap it off. pity as it was in quite good condition structurally and mechanically. I'll take an ironic pleasure in seeing it squashed.

Have you not tried Gumtree or Autotrader?
This car is bloody marvellous and I'd have it in a jiffy if it wasn't auto and I lived nearer you.
Fantastic for the price.
Do hope you sell it on to someone who appreciates it.
Isn't there a local Land Owner's club you could take it to?
I'd cry if i had to watch that scrapped.
As you said prolly worth more in parts. Leather interior on it's own is worth a lot.
Best of luck mate!

Definitely try to sell it elsewhere! You haven’t given it much chance either if you’re scrapping it after just two days of trying to sell it here. Most discovery 1’s are very rusty by now, unlike yours. Exposing it for sale elsewhere will surely find you a buyer and save another from the scrap man.

I think if he just put a "for sale" sign in it and drove to a place with a reasonable population, then parked it in a supermarket car park, he'd get people looking at it. He could even advertise it on a card in the supermarket!

Hi, would it be possible to touch base and PM you regarding the Disco. I’m also based in Denbighshire, Prestatyn and interested in having a look.

Many thanks

It would easily sell in denbigh.
Probably fooked anyway. Hence the low posts, keeness to get shot and threat of scrappage :D

Worth it easily, especially if the LPG system is properly certificated.
Seeing the mahoosive list of stuff he has done to it.;)

Hello, yes I am reasonably happy with the sale, obviously more would have been even better but seriously it is difficult to find someone who would even look at it, I had it for sale on a number of places for several weeks and just got cranks, also my son put the reg on the well known tv advertised site on-line and the result of that enquiry was that the vehicle was worth £150.
Seriously?
I had also responded to people on here looking for D1's and that didn't travel far either.

A mate of a mate in Chester bought it. He put it up on a ramp and was more than happy with the condition of the chassis, body, engine and transmission.
No, it was not "fooked" as was so coarsely suggested above, it is easy to denigrate and spout conjecture like that from the comfort of a chair without looking at it in the metal, and yes the LPG system is certified annually (Flintshire Autogas), it can be checked on the LPG register easily.
Most importantly, the guy who bought it is happy with the vehicle - enough said.

I did spend a lot of money on it, and had been planning to Megasquirt it but the difficulty in getting lpg when away, especially in the north of Scotland, and the cost of keeping it on the drive approaching £1000 per year before the cost of fuel, and the soon to be realised reappearance of the 3 door, meant it had to go, especially as I have now retired.
If it had not sold complete I would indeed have torn it down, the sum of the parts easily outstrips the vehicle value and as I have access to the equipment and the time to do so it wouldn't have been a problem.

In summary then, although there would appear to be a market for the D1, when it comes down to hard reality they are not worth very much as a vehicle, especially the V8, just a set of mechanical parts for a 90 or 110 or classic RR, which is a shame for the vehicle that was allegedly responsible for the continuance of Land Rover as a company.

Thanks for the update. Good to know the disco has gone to a good home. On the online auction sites, original disco 1’s are making good money now as they are getting rarer so I’m surprised it took some time to sell. It was just a case of finding the right buyer.
