Hi everyone,

I hope someone can help me. I want to find a buyer soon for my '91 Disco V8.
The car needs too much maintenance and I'm not the person to give it that.

Does anyone know any places that buy old Land Rovers?

I've put some ads on Land Rover forums already, including Landyzone.. so that, combined with some help here will hopefully get me on the right way.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Trouble is a '91 Disco V8 that needs maintenance is mostly going to be a donor to keep another going. They're not special enough to command good prices, yet cost too much as a daily runabout, and if it needs a lot of maintenance then it's not going to be worth much, though a lot depends on condition, rust and how good the 'good' bits are.

I'd say ebay, start at £99 or 99p and hope !!

Whereabouts are you?

how much are you looking to get for it?
I think I'd be happy with anything from £1200 to £1500.
All open for discussion really.

It has a new LPG conversion, but I know I can't expect to recover the money for that one. I just want to sell really.

makes sense I guess. I just put it on ebay.. let's see what happens.
The rest of the car is in good shape. Good gear box, chassis looks good, etc.

I'm in Bromley, Kent

what sort of price could one expect for a car like that?

it'd need to be an absolutely mint low mileage example with full service history and no rust or other faults for that sort of money.

you could try Taroni's of Birmingham doubt they will give you 1200 though more likely £ 50

Wish you luck.
Il second that!

Ya BIN is um a bit er um, well i had a glance and got to this >> Not being a mechanic, I'm having one or two issues with the car.. <<< Honest, hell yeah, but not worth 999!

If it dont go, there is always 250 cash here for ya!! ;)

Your definatly honest! but I have to agree with J.P.S., If the problem is just the plug sealing then get a mechanic to put a plug thread chaser down the spark plug hole and clean it out properly, If the vehicle was working 100% then you could get your money for it, Considering the recent LPG and the other shiney bits you've put on it. If the garages you've seen havent cleaned the spark plug hole out properly then there monkeys, The Thread Chaser wont be more than around £20 and if you can screw a bolt in you can do it yourself. I know where you coming from you don't want to spend good money after bad, but to get top price the car needs to be in top condition. Otherwise sell as is, spares or repairs but be realistic with how much you can hope to achieve.
p.s. Put more details in your ad, what make are the springs/shocks on it, what model is it?, how is the interior is it clean?, is it a 7 seater? remember as is people looking at it might be going to break it, you need to sell on the condition of everything that is on the car

trying to sell mine as well mate so im not being funny ! good luck on e bay mine will be on soon

Honestly,
Because its a V8 and because it need maintainance its not worth much.
If its Mot'd and Taxed, aswell as mint, then expect to get £500-£1000,
If its Mot'd & Taxed then anything upto £650,
If its not MOT'd or Taxed then £100 to £300

These are rough prices that I would expect to see I wouldn't pay much more than £300 for any V8 disco myself. Jai

without being funny, have you already tried selling this vehicle on ebay, as it seems quite familiar. I recall noticing something like this on ebay in Bromley before, as I'm quite local, and beginning to think about a disco.

Just had a read at you ad and to be honest i dont think youll get may close offer with what needs doing. It needs engine work as although you say what the problem is most people will be put off by you not having fixed it. Then it needs a screen and you say its tatty.
I think you should have put a low start price and just let it go.
You could always take the LPG kit off and sell it seperatly.
