After replacing my master clutch cylinder i realised it was actually the pipe leaking not the cylinder :doh: (what a waste of £70)

Anyway. Is it ok to replace this with standard 6mm copper brake pipe or should i use something which can cope with a higher pressure (the only other stuff i can find is 90/10 CUPRO NICKEL pipe)

What is the purpose of the loop? Is this to prevent air bubbles forming or something?

Had hoped to get my disco back on the road by now but just seems to be dragging out - and seems the only place i can get 6mm pipe from is eBay or pay £25 to unipart

As the g/f will be stealing her car back i'd better get the series up and running to keep me going until the clutch is better.

most motor factor places will do the copper pipe, mine had a range of imperial fittings too when i had to do a series3 brake cylinder. Can't comment on what type of pipe though!

they are 1/4 pipe copper or cunifer migth be easier you use your own fittings ,you put a pigtail in the line to account for any vibrations or movement,so you dont need flexi

Thank you. So copper is acceptable, i.e. the working pressure isn't high enough to require a different pipe.

Thanks for the explanation of the loop (pigtail) - makes sense

Clutch pressure will be lower than brake pressures and copper is ok for brakes.

I did the opposite, I replaced the slave and damper before I noticed the pipe leaking :(

I chucked the old one, got a flex pipe and had a new connector pipe made up as I didn't have any flaring tools then. With the flexi pipe it seems to be quieter when the pedal is pressed.
