Hi all, currently converting my puma 90 pick up into hard top for space, comfort, dry luggage etc. Already have a bottom half of tailgate, was wondering how easy it is to find cat flaps or how easy it would be to retrofit new door?

Hi and welcome.

Cat flap doors were not available for Defenders. They were available as an option for Series landies but aren’t easy to find. The best bet would be to get a good late safari door, which is what the hardtop would have been fitted with originally.

I think that’s what I’ll end up doing. Do you know if the series cat flaps fit defenders at all?

I don’t believe that the fittings for the series cat flap are fitted inside Defender hardtop, especially later ones. Whether something could be made, maybe. But the series cat flap doors might not fit physically due to differences in each model. The best bet would be to find one and offer it up. If it can’t be done, you’d probably have no issue selling it on. Someone who has one or has tried can probably advise further.

You also would have the problem of upper hinges and lock fitting on lower tailgate to sort...as above fit a defender hardtop rear door...

Hi, I’m quite new to all this stuff. I’ve bought a roof and side panels off and older version defender to put on my 2014 puma. Now want to fit a rear door, will I have problems finding a door that fits sp do one but it says for 02 models and older? Will this be a problem
