I always "double" lock my car when I leave (2000 RR Vogue) but there has been a few mornings recently when I have gone to the car to find it has unlocked itslef.

Am I going mad or had anyone esle had this problem?

If so does anyone know a fix?

thanks

G

Silly question, but have you replaced your RF receiver or know of the previous owner replacing the RF receiver from the original defective part number AFR1953 to the newly revised YWY500170.

Knowing that part AFR1953 is incredibly bad and recognises every RF signal under the sun, its possible that its receiving phantom signals either from the keyfob or from some other RF source.

Has the alarm gone off?? Are there any messages on the dashboard when you go to start??

One other thing, is it possible you could have accidentally opened the vehicle by accidentally pressing the keyfob, for example you put it in your pocket in the morning or something??

I did check that the doors were locked properly, and as far as I know the previous owner did not replace he RF receiver. (coudl anyone tell me what an RF receiver is and where I woudl find it?)

Thanks

The RF receiver is under the drivers side (on a RHD) rear parcel tray support. Basically, open the rear tailgate and look to the right, that panel by the rear most window, underneath it is the receiver. You will see the antenna for it built into the window, it looks like a little metal strip sticking up.

Im not convinced its anything to do with the RF receiver though, yes they can keep the BeCM awake but Ive never ever read of anyone reporting that the car has been unlocked by a random signal on the airwaves. Especially if this has only just started happening.

As I said, has the alarm gone off and does the message centre show anything??

When you find it, you won't find any part numbers on it. For some strange reason the RF receiver has never had part numbers printed on it, which makes it very difficult to find out which version you have. The new part YWY500170 (3rd revision) was made after 2004, so if you have paperwork after that and it doesn't mention it being replaced, you can bet your P38 still has the dreaded AFR1953 part installed.
