Petrol Vs Diesel

Hi there,

Just a quick question. If an item does not state wether it's for a petrol model or a diesel model could I safely assume that it would work on either?

In the case at hand I'm needing a "QEP 105 990 PIPE - BOX TO RESEVOIR" in the following image:

as the other pipes are marked in petrol or diesel I would assume this is to do with length or routing of the pipes to the power steering reservoir around the engine bay to steering pump

just spoke to my parts man, he said that is for both vehicles

Now I've spoken to "my" guys here and they are now saying something a bit different (and a bit odd). For the item stated above they quoted me €80 last week when I went in to see if they had it, but this morning my mechanic told me it cost him €170+. I phoned up the shop thinking maybe he had gone and got the wrong one or something and they told me no, he had the right one for my VIN nº!!?? Could this be so? I mean, when all said and done, if it is a case of different ones for different VIN's wouldn't it be on that list above?

What do you think??
