Hello landy lovers!!!

Need your heads to help me with a strange one.

I currently have 2001 td4 freelander.

Doesn't seem to have the pull off the mark and seems rather sluggish.

I don't expect the freelander to have the pull off you would with cars etc... But seems to be extremely slow. The freelander takes an age to get to 60 and I find myself changing down all the time.

I have noticed a small split in one of the hoses coming from turbo.....would this make a massive difference to performance???

Second ask is...how do you improve MPG on freelander...people say take propshaft off...does this make a big difference?

Hi and welcome, Peter.
Ditto, the split hose will make a huge difference. If you can stretch to a set of silicon hoses then I reckon they're worth the effort. While you're at it, delete the Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve (EGR). Loads of threads on here telling you how to do it. Then give it a full service and I reckon you'll see a worthwhile improvement. A good number of folks say that removing the rear prop makes little difference to fuel consumption but if you do go down that route you need to inform your insurers as it's a material change to the vehicle. Good luck!

Thanks for the welcome :)

Well I guess that's settled it. I will replace the hose with silicone hose tomorrow and carry out full service.

Thanks guys

Ok...silicone hose on...full service carries out....got a blanking kit for EGR coming tomorrow.

I have taken the EGR valve off but was too quick for my own good and didn't notice where the thin pipe goes from the EGR...I have looked around but can't see where it connects too. Looked on the net but can't see anything for the love of God!!

Any pictures you have or any guidance? I would think it connects to a thin metal valve like the one on the current EGR valve....
