Hi as per the title Passenger LH door won't open, I've tried everything I think? Bar smashing out the locking module to get it to open. I think one of the motors inside the module is dead as I can only hear one working when I apply voltage to it.

Anyone any ideas how to get this door open?

Assume it is locked. So the solenoids get stuck up with crud. When mine got stuck locked a smart tap on the solenoid solved it enabling replacement of the lock assembly.

Look at the other door to get the spot!! Right by the striker.

I tried banging it also..still stuck locked, think mines past hitting and banging, i should have looked at it when it 1st started playing up as hitting it did work...does anyone have a picture of the Passenger LH door lock module with the black cover off. Just so I get an idea of where things are, might have to try flicking the mechanism some how from inside. I'm pretty sure it's stuck in Super lock.

I usually replace the motors as per this thread.

But can't open door...might have to drill it to bits to see if it frees

The door lock assembly is all part of the latch. You'll need to take the door card off, so you can access the latch assembly from inside the door cavity.

This will allow you to hit it from inside, which might work. Otherwise the latch assembly can be "dissected", which means you should be able to unlock it from the same lever the motors work against.

Maybe get yourself a replacement lock first, then pull that apart so you can find out how the mechanism works, and what bits you need to more to release the latch.

That's what I did. ;)

Once you get the door card off which is just about doable with the door locked, and you can get the cover off the lock this is what it will look like inside below.

I do not know if the above will help but you should be able to open the door once the door card is off.

This is excellent Mr Arctic.. thanks for the pic..I need to move where the green clip is, the plastic arm underneath it. This is connected to the dead motor...if I can make a tool to slide in between the black outer cover and the mechanism it may work.. ( long screw driver with an L shape on the end) The problem with the outer cover is that the interior release cable holds it on, so can't fully take black outer cover off. But at least now, thanks to the pic I have am idea of where to prod n poke.

:(Hmmm looks like I may have to destroy it then to get door open.

The lock is ****ed anyway, so destroying it isn't a major issue, as you'll be fitting a replacement. Take the replacement apart, so you can see how the mechanism works, then do the same to the broken lock, which is keeping the door locked. ;)

If I can get it out without destroying it, that would be great, I'll just replace the motor and clean it out a little.. all replacement ones are 2nd hand which will all fail in the same way eventually....car too old and worthless to be throwing money at it...
