Looking at it. Couldn't you just put a ram on the steering damper bracket.
I'm sure a local feyewpumanatic chap could knock you up a simple ram and pump.

Don't know, that's why I'm asking the question, a Corsa kit is £35 I am trying to do it very cheep and affordable, some of these kits cost almost 2K

The ram and pump are the easy bits. The difficulty is in controlling them. It has to be unpowered when there is no input from the steering wheel to allow for feedback and it needs to be powered only when the wheel is turning and needs to provide assistance relative to the speed you're turning the wheel.

I seem to remember back throught he mists of time, some system that you fitted the whole steering column from some electrically assisted system. It included the proportioning system, angle sensors etc and the motor. It was all mounted axially on one shaft and fully electric. Cant remember what vehicle the system was off of though.

The ram system (as used for the Heystee and the tractors) needs the control valve on the ram linked to the drop arm. One end of the ram is where the link arm goes, the other is on a fixed bracket. When the drop arm moves the valve moves so the ram moves until the valve is neutral again so the ram follows the steering. If pressure fails the drop arm pushes the valve and the ram without assistence. Its simple and was used on loads of American cars but it gives little or no feel.
