pas fault 300tdi

hi all been out today in disco 300tdi and the power steering started working it ticket .
had a new steering box about 6/7 months back through leak and been fine till today .
while driving at normal speed it ok but when you slow right down to turn a tight corner you loose assistance until you get back up to say 25/30 mph then is ok again if you go round a bend you've got pas hen you park up and go to go from lock to lock you get assistance for the first say quarter/half of turn then nowt drive away a few hundred yds stop and try again assistance back or a little bit of turn .
had new drive belt this morning still the same .
so am I right in thinking the pas pump on it was out :doh:

If the belt is tensioned correctly and is turning at engine speed, then I'd also suspect the PAS pump.

I mention the belt as my crank pulley came loose a few weeks back and I had intermittent PAS too, so its worth checking that as well.

Ditto what Artic Fox said, belt or pump or both.

sorted!!!!
replaced the pump and tensioner as when checked properly there was a bit of play in tensioner pulley bearing and when turning the pump by hand with belt off it was quite notchy
