Sport PARKING BRAKE REPLACMEMT RRS

Morning, my father in laws 2006 TDV6 RRS has developed the squeal of death from the electronic parking brake, yesterday it jammed on and the car was stuck fast, We've got it free using the emergency release under the centre console. Ive done some searching and can get the gears for £30 but nowhere have i been able to find a rave document on the removal of the unit itself. Has anyone on here got a link or copy of it and done this themselves? The other issue i needed an answer to is the correct method to set it back up after its replacment.

If you put EPB in search a lot will come up.

You will have to use Land rover Topix which is a pay per use manual. No RAVE for your model of car.

The squeal is normally because they need setting up properly, along with the gears slipping , won’t know 100% until it’s inspected and re latched , plse don’t hesitate to ask if u need further help

Cheers for the replies, thats exactly what i was looking for with no joy, looks like a nightmare of a job to do.
Father in law said it was squealing before and i heard it saturday when he left ours but yesterday it wasnt squealing at all it sounded like it was running freely (like it was unattached) so my guess is its stripped the teeth inside.
He had the rear brakes done on it 2 maybe 3years ago so i would assume it would have shown up before now if it hadnt been adjusted. Quite possible the shoes have had it now though.

True, but i would much rather pull a leaver rather than press a button. That way you can feel for anomalies as the brakes wear.

Indeed and how very true being able to tell when the shoes need adjustment with a conventional handbrake

Thks, and sometimes hard to tell until you’ve taken it apart , good to hear the links are useful

easier if u take ur spare wheel out , also if I may add don’t ever get underneath without axle stands , put the suspension into off road height then pull fuse F26 , after you’ve finished when u replace the fuse the suspension will drop to bump stops until u start the engine again

+1 - EPB's are a revenue earning "solution" to a problem that does not exist

.... and never will

( more deskilling / work of the devil / etc ......
