Parabolic spring height

Hey,

Fitted parabolic springs to my (now) series 3 rolling chassis, but I don't know what height to set them at. I've read that they give an increased ride height of about 2", is this right? And if so, would it make sense to set them at standard height + 2".

just put all the bolts in loose with nuts on when the car is built up complete you will need to tighten it all up once settled

I asked all and sundry the same question when I did mine a few months ago... the general consensus of opinion (including that of GB Springs who supplied my parabolics and were extremely knowledgeable) was to fit all the springs and nip them up... get some hefty fellas to bounce around on her a few times or drive her gently for a couple of miles to let everything settle, and then torque them up fully.

can't remember the full technical reason why not required to set to a precise measurement (as per normal leaf springs)... something to do with formation, preloading and slip or something, but worked a treat on mine with no lean and no adverse wear on the bushes as far as I can tell

your springs should only be fully tigthened with normal running wieght as when you tighten the inside of the bush becomes locked to hangars and the outside to chassis or spring then rubber part of bush flexi,s either way ,to take account of suspension travel if you set it lower or higher than that when running normally rubber part of bush would be over stretched in one or other direction
