I know most of you old folk must be thinking WTF but whats the best way to go about spraying me wheels?

I just bought a set of 4 wolf wheels with BF 255/85 muds :D but they are white  I want to spray them panther black:cool:.

been told to strip the white paint, been told to just rough it up with a wire brush, been told to sand it. whats the best thing to do?

I was then going to spray a few coats of hammerite on and topped with a clear slacker. masking the tyres and valve off 1st. do i need primer? antirust stuff?

finally, going to put a bead of black silly cone in that tight gap to prevent rust.

come on then you oldies, give it your best shot :p

egg yolk....

paint or that plastic coating stuff.. ah seen some wheels dun that way and plastic coated and they looked awreet

Powder coat em, but I wudent got to the fookin bover, just sand the bastids to give the paint some grip and spray em with some primer then colur then yer clear. Yer gona pay more to get em dun than yer probably paid fur em, un yer gona ding em off road anyway, un paints easy to repair plastic un that aint.

If the primer boils up and reacts wif the paint thats on em then nitromors em to get it all off, scooshy case.

aye but yer plastic coating is tougher than paint so it gets damaged less and they do look pretty, which is what he wants. if he int worried about looks then just chuck a bucket of paint at em

if the paint is ok on the wheels then just flat them down...grey scotch pad is fine then repaint...no need to take wheels off but go to local tyre place and have them break the tyre from the wheel on the side you are painting...easy to mask then and just refill with air and hear the tyre go pop:D

how do you drive back with flat tyres??

On my old 90 I took two wheels off at a time [placed on stands] cleaned the wheels off any loose debris and repainted with smoothrite, looks the doggys bits it does alright for a old landy.
BIG D.

do you need an air tank to seal the bead again? ive got a little Tmax port compressor. seams pretty tuff but not sure if its enough to reseal beads. friend of mine suggested PVA glue around the bead then mask over it. the PVC can be cut with a knife along the rim and then pealed off or washed with hot water. anyone done this? think a quick rub down and repaint is the way as the white on there now is still good... just think white looks gash :D how many 500ml cans for 2 coats on 4wheels? :)

thanks guys

nope,
the bouncing forces the sidewall into the bead and its enough to let yer girls puffer inflate yer tyre
on some stubborn low profile tyres we have to do this as well....usually inflate to 2 bar but have to take some way past that to 3 bar plus to pop the tyre then deflate to recommended pressure
