Painting a roof rack

Really stupid question, what is the best way/finish to paint a galvanised roof rack black? hammerite or spray can? The question sounds stupid by I have never painted anything galvanised before!
 
You need a galvanized specific primer then topcoat with whatever.
I seem to recall hammerite do or did do a galv paint.
 
You need to treat it with a "mordant t wash" before painting search ebay for some ;)

My mate used the hammerite gear & said it was cr@p but he is a bit of a numpty at
everything diy, He can drive a submarine all round the world but he makes an ar$e
at everything he touches but you couldn't meet a nicer chap lol

That's sort of old skool now I believe but it is how I did galv for years, in fact it's what I used for my galv chassis and bulkhead but a ready to use galv primer although more expensive, would be more user friendly for the op for what is really a small job.
Mordant is evil stinky stuff not really recommended for novice use imo.
Think I've still got some here somewhere about.
