Hi there, im new to the landy scene and loving it :) (when she works that is)
She now just wont start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got a 1997 3.9l V8 with LPG single point (hybrid system... parts from here and from here)system on it. To begin with the lpg was always lumpy so i went throught the usual Replacing ALL the HT system to find out that it was a wire that had come out of its connector on the ignition amplifier. (cost me a fortune to find this out at the end Aaaarrrggg!!!). Since then she's runs sweet as a nut in a sweet nut factory.

Got all excited and was about to go on our first proper off-road experience at cowm leisure at Rochdale.:D

All got in and................wont fire..........effin........git(bit stronger than that)

Soooooooooo all out with a few choice words.

Checked the spark....Got good spark, however plugs are dry??????
Checked the fuel pump fuse(number 6)...Fine
Checked Fuel pump relay ...seems to be clicking nice and loud
Checked the imfamous spider!!!!...Already been replaced with the LR bypass plug(took me ages just to find this out)
Checked the fuel pump end...fuel pump buzzes(quietly) as it (im guessing)pressurises the system

How ever it does'nt buzz when the engine is turning over....should it???

It has always been a royal pain in the arse for firing, but have read that v8 with lpg always are. The day before she did this, turning over for about 30 seconds then fired into life

NOT THIS TIME

Any ideas.....PLEASE!!!!!!!!

will swop for next weeks lotto numbers

I've got loads of ideas but none of them apertaining to your problem. I'll tell you my ideas for those lotto numbers, but only if they're the winning ones.

And those winning number are...........

1....royal pain in the @rse

2....aching ears im getting from the misses

6...friggin hour to get no where finding the problem

12....miles to the nearest scrapyard

49......quid they will give me for my landy

lol

lol, feel for you, nothing worse than having a problem you cant solve, good luck with getting her going.

have you checked the solonoid that cuts off the petrol so it can run on the gas.i used to have a van that the solonoid used to stick on and it wouldnt let any petrol through! i used to tap it and it would then fire.i think that they are magnetic and stick occasionaly.hope you sort it out regards col

Uuuuummmmm, i dont know where it is though.....
I can only see 2 in the engine bay. 1 on the bulk head and 1 on the vaporiser. Thought they where both controlling the gas

Unfortunately its got a tartarini vaporiser and emmegas electronics????????? Cant get any info for them.

Do you reckon it could be the one on the bulk head?

This one?

I'm sorry I can't help in a constructive way being a diesel kind of a guy, but my sympathies are with you - it's a real bùgger when you can't track down a fault and you know it's going to be something really simple and daft :( :(

When you've fixed it and started to enjoy your Disco again all this will fade into nothing - trust me I'm a politician :D :D :D

The very best of luck

Dave

Cheers for that Dave,:D

Well colin i did what you said with no affect. Looked a little closer at that selonoid and it just controls the gas to the Vaporiser. Disco just turns and turns, there is a valve on the fuel rail(like a tyre) pressed it and fuel came out..a tad. I did expect it to fire out with a lot of pressure, maybe im wrong.

Well i got it started in the end...... Sprayed 'easy start' in the air intake and it fired up straight away and ran fine!!!

it now starts every time on the key?

WTF!!!!

Anyone?

I always start on petrol anyway, however you dont get a choice,it automatically starts on petrol, even if gas is selected until you go above 1500 revs.

Just to make something clearer, now it has started once on 'easy start' it now starts every time on the key with no problems

hi, what you need to do is follow your fuel lines usually under the bonnet and somewhere along them they will have a valve inbetween them that has a couple of wires on it. this is the fuel solonoid that shuts off the fuel when running on gas or opens for the fuel.if you try a live feed to this solonoid you should hear it clicking but this does not mean it is not sticking it just means its not duff! you can try disconnecting the fuel pipes and blowing through the valve in the open and shut position, if it is stuck you will not be able to blow in which case try tapping it and if this does not work then it will need replacing. hope this helps regards col

Hi col,

cant find a solonoid, i think it may be control by turning the fuel pump off.

However if that is the case then would it not run when i spray 'easystart' in it??. The fuel must be ON to be running.

Some one has suggested that it might be the fuel pressure regulater. Explained that the fuel did'nt spray out from the valve when pressed
