ordered a few bits from Paddocks this morning, they tried to call me soon after and now I can't get through to them at all on any of their numbers! Very weird, first order with them.

I've used Paddocks for over 20 years and never had a problem with them as a company. My only problem is their stock contains too many Britpart items and it's not always easy to sort out which supplier you will be supplied with when ordering. I like to know who made the bits before I part with my hard earned.

Similar, except almost 30 years. Occasionally there have been little mistakes, always sorted out fairly quickly. Otherwise always found them very good service, and price competitive.

I agree about the Britpart stuff, and on if in doubt, I would ring them on the phone, and specify by name the brand I would prefer, eg Elring in the case of a head gasket.

Some britpart is fine anyway, springs and wheel rims are as good as any. Just a matter of knowing what to steer clear of.

I agree entirely about Britpart. We should remember that Britpart are only middlemen, they don't actually make anything, they source parts from many different suppliers and there cost/quality reflects this. I wouldn't buy a bearing from then but am happy to buy a door seal or a spring.

That would be my policy too, springs, wheels, door rubbers, bumpstops etc. fine

Engine bits, steering components, brake pads, no way!

Yet their door seals are mocked worldwide... At the end of the day its pot luck.
