I know the original post was snow on normal tyres and I do have winters on mine (but that's the law where I am) but have had my 4.6 P38 for 4 Russian winters (though missed the last one) and it has never been a problem in the snow, even over a foot of fresh she just bulldozes through no sweat as long as you can tell where the road is and Russian roads are not the best for markings. I have on a few occasions just sailed past a line of abandoned vehicles. Off road snow just as good up the suspension and away she goes. Ice is a different issue and needs a bit more skill and attention especially with the ABS which is supposed to counter this but 4WD LR don't be stupid and the P38 is a wonder to behold.
Except for today when she overheated in -18 but probably due to my schoolboy error of topping up the water now and again but not adding anti freeze so over a period of time diluted it to a sate where it is not good enough for these temperatures. but give it all credit a now 15 year old car with a big lump of 4.6 sitting outside all night and everynight started first crank. So all is not bad, I love this car.

Done that and ran it and the header tank recycled and is now a lovely pink again but over heated I think the rad is frozen so will have to come up with a cunning plan to thaw it out and as I don't have a garage and the car is in a parking area away from the house the wife hair dryer is out.
But as the tank is now pink again I'm suitably happy that the water pump is working and the top hose is hot but the rad cold think this is the problem

electric fan heater on it for 30 mins.. nothing too violent, you want to melt the plastics

Not parked near the house so why I could not use the wife's hairdryer
And can not get near the house. Also no power supply where parked as it is if you think of long term airport parking but on a smaller scale but a man or sometimes lady with a big gun to deter people of a certain persuasion who think they like your stuff better than you do.
I remember seeing a photo of when the Russians where in Afghanistan of a long line of trucks parked and each had a small open fire underneath to keep them from freezing. but don't think is an option at the moment But I do have one of those Tesco disposable BBQ's in the back Hmmm Don't need the car that much at the moment will wait. But thanks for the option.

If your rad has frozen I would get it thawed PDQ in case it has split and you need to replace it. Warm her up as much as you dare, pop the bonnet and throw a thick rug over the engine and front of the car, close bonnet then wait with fingers crossed. Good sign that the fan belt isn't squealing ( waterpump frozen)
