Hi all, i am considering get my RR converted, are there any major concerns with having it done? Tank location etc

Has anybody used this company? Profess Autogas, based in South Wales.

Please pass on your thoughts both good and bad

With regards to tank location try and get it underneath if poss as I personally don't like it inthe spare wheel well plus I have a second behind the back seat which means lack of boot space especially with spare wheel in boot! I run a single point system on my 4.6 although some say go multiple over3.9? Mine seems fine tho.
 
go multi piont,, lot more forgiving,,shouldnt give backfires and blow your airbox up,!
ring em up and get advice from them first before deciding,, also there is a lpg forum (search via google) who are a friendly bunch and may be able to advise you
 
For efficiency you need to be multipoint as you have an injector for each cylinder good point about the tank in the spare wheel well mine is a 90l tank but only really get 70l of use so only just over 200 miles per fill up - I can work round that as my nearest garage is only 1m away - part of the problem with putting the tank elsewhere is you have to start chopping bit out of the floor I was not comfortable with that - probably due to ignorance - I am sure one of the guys who really knows there stuff will be along to give better advice also you need to look at installs these guys have done to see what they do with the wiring pipe work etc also be prepared for the o rings to be replaced in the heating system as they will no doubt cut into the pipe work
 
I have an old toroidal tank. 72l but looks like it has been tweaked since i can fill up to 68l. I've ran it like that for 10 years and 100.000 miles. I'm looking at the twintank setup 135l from RPI because French MOT now looks at certfication of the LPG tank and mine is too old (10 years). Is there a member here known to have the RPI setup? I'd like to know pros and cons. Regards Florent

I have a 2000 4.6 V8 converted to LPG by Profess just over a year ago. The conversion cost me £1400 all-in and included a 2year guarantee. They did the conversion in a day (08:00 - 19:30) and gave me a car to use while they were doing the conversion. I've just been back for the first service (cost me £40).

The tank replaced the spare wheel and I had the filler fitted next to the petrol filler behind the standard filler flap - added security and no extra holes in the bodywork!

I usally get around 260 miles from a tank of LPG. If you get the conversion there, they'll also sell you gas at a very competitive price.

All in all, I've been very happy with the conversion and the service over the last year :D

Can't help you out on the actual conversion Turbo. Coz I haven't got one. But had a long weekend in Norfolk last year and checked them out (more about getting info on the cocast engine) and they had a Rangie in there with the twin tank set up. Very neat and tidy and the 110 litres useable would be very handy. You also have to have a new modified exhaust so the cost soon mounts up. From memory the tank, new stainless exhaust and a quality multi-point conversion was over 3K. At the time I was more inclined to spend the money on a new cocast engine:)
 
Are you sure the maths work out? Read a post recently saying LPG was over 70p/Lt. I understood LPG gave you about 40% less MPG. 95 is only £1.16 my way which would make sticking to petrol the cheaper option.
 
My last fill of LPG delivered 276.4 miles travelled for a cost of £49. Petrol around here is around £1.24, so this gives an equivalent of just over 32mpg. This was a mix of rural, urban and motorway driving. IMO that's better than I'd get on diesel with all the enjoymnt of that V8 power :).
