Hi all i'm new here so please be patient lol

I'm having issues with my D2 its a 2001 4.0 V8 petrol/Lpg 98,000 on purchase now on 99,500
I'm having the following problems at times the Car idles Poorly and cuts out runs mostly fine on LPG But at times loses power on both Petrol and LPG and cuts out all the time and is at times dangerous
I've had it plugged in and getting the following codes,

1. P0150 02 sensor circuit malfunction Bank 2 Sensor 1
2. 0102 Mass air flow VAF Volume air flow sensor circuit low input
3. 0112 Intake Air temp sensor low input
4. P0130 02 Sensor circuit Bank 1 sensor 1
5. P0172 System too RICH Bank 1
6. PO175 System too RICH Bank 2

Most places won't touch the car as its LPG converted and although the list of codes look bad the car 80% of the Time drives fantastic both on Petrol and Gas I'm based on the Wirral, I have only owned the Car a month and love it and don't want to get rid or for it to cost an arm and a leg Cheers!

Hi there, welcome to the forum...... I think it would be best to get a local LPG specialist to look at it. Mine had a LPG temp sensor down so was leaning off the gas causing misfires/lumpy running etc I've since had an upstream O2 sensor fail which again caused overfueling (rich) running. When were the plugs/leads last changed? LPG needs a good spark to run effectively. Any decent LPG place will be able to read the live data on both LPG and petrol and see whats going on.. kepp us posted..

Hi Thanks for the reply I'm due to see an LPG specialist hopefully next week i'm unsure weather the plugs have been changed would most of the codes i'm getting all lead to having new 02 sensors?

I would guess they all lead to a knackered maf sensor, but i only play with pre cat v8s myself. One trick would be to unplug the maf and see if it runs better. @listerdiesel may be able to help more

Hi all thanks for your comments and advice today I have disconnected the MAF sensor and had little to no difference still cutting out and loss of power when driving genuinely running rough! .. does anybody know a specialist in the north west who knows thease cars / V8 LPG inside out many thanks Jonathan

Get hold of the RAVE manual, you need to know how the various sensors interface with the engine management system.

Flywheel sensor failure will kill the engine, there is no fall-back strategy in the ECU.
MAF failure will leave the engine running on fall-back, as will the camshaft sensor.

Fuel pump failure is something to consider, but the test point for pressure is buried under the upper inlet manifold. I have carried a new spare pump in the back of mine for 90000 miles and it still hasn't had to be used. My car is close to 180000 miles now.

Hi all thanks for your advice so far i have purchased a genuine bosch MAF and will be fitting it tomorrow ill keep you all posted @listerdiesel would yu recommend the 40 mile drive in Petrol only (Newbie lol) and would disconnecting the battery do anything? thanks Jonathan

Its best to forget about LPG running problems till its running right on petrol. Once its running good on petrol then sort out LPG. When I had problems with my installation the first thing the installer did was to test the car on petrol and if the problem was there then it was the car and not the installation as far as he was concerned.

I see you're in Conwy where did you go for help with LPG? I'm on the wirral

Ok all so not great news fitted the new MAF today (£120 cost of MAF) and still no difference I've driven about 50 miles so far anyone had this problem before after fitting a new MAF will it get better?

The golden rule to ensure a healthy LPG system is ensuring Petrol work properly. As yours will be a closed system for fuel injections the LPG cuts in on a lamda sensor off the manifold. For LPG service stations search on the web for AUTOLPG or in a petrol station for the same title off the shelf. MOTs can fail on both tests so beware if you are due. Did the person give you a LPG service certificate and records of any work carried out when you bought the vehicle. Also check for to see if the vehicle has been registered on the LPG site.

I had it fitted down in Newport, South Wales as they were cheap but wished I had gone somewhere more local or at least Northern England. I took it down there once a year for a service. I would treat the wife to a weekend there. She can't say I didn't spoil her. :)
