P38 ZF 4HP22 interchangeability DSE/4.0?

Hello everyone,
I have a DSE with an automatic that is on it's way out. I'd like to rebuild the transmission, but I need the RR nearly daily. The thought was to do as I've done with other items before; buy a used unit and rebuild the original when I have time.

Prob is, there are 4.0 transmissions everywhere (=inexpensive) - but few DSE's. So does anyone have any experience with putting a 4.0 gearbox behind a DSE motor? I know the torque converter and the bellhousing need to be swapped - but how bout the rest?

Have a look at RAVE, or Ashcroft transmissions site. I have an idea that the overall length is slightly different.
 
All no longer important - got one. Thanks anyway, though.

BTW, the length is the same - it's the 4HP24 from the 4.6 that's longer.
The ratios... I would have thought there is a difference too. But check 'General specification data - automatic transmission' in the RAVE. There are the 2 gearboxes listed but only one set of ratios for all...
