Hi guys, had a little search and google, but i still have a couple of questions..

so ive googled etc, bought a new glass holding clip for £2.00

questions... how do i remove the old clip ? and any particular way to put the new one and glass on ?

also....any ideas on the electric <-> movment on whats likley cause ? would it be a wire or what ? ie a wire in the 6 pin connection, or something in the actual motor ?

thanks

While you have the glass off move the mirror in all directions and see if it moves. If it does then your old glass was not clipped in correctly.
To get the clip off just use your fingers and tease it off over its small clips, and very careful when fitting new glass and clip ,and make sure the mirror is central in the surround before trying to press glass in. ;)

ok thanks, il have a look tomorrow, i cant remember if i checked the motor buton whilst looking at it without the the glass on

so the old clip housing just prizes away ? no screws or owt or special way of doing it ?

and to re fit glass its just a case of having it all straight/flat, and pushing it on flat ? is that corect ? (ie not to do 1 side 1st etc)

if i do try the motor without the glass, and it doesnt move still.... whats the next port of call ? im not overly fussed about it, but would be nice to get ir working properly

Yep you will see the little lugs around the outside of the ring-have a look at your new one-just tease them over the edge one at a time with your fingers.

Yes to the glass fitting

dunno on that one .Something i have not had to do,yet?

To remove the glass you are supposed push the glass inwards on the outside furthest from the door. Then to use a spatula to prize the glass inwards towards the door and ease glass up with your fingers, the clip should then flick off the internals. Does it work without breaking the clip. Not very often.

had a look yesterday-

the motor works/can hear it, it sort of works, but struggles , like hold the button and it gets there in the end

however- in trying to remove the glass cllip housing from the mirror, i broke 1 end of the white long clip in the middle , that holds the bit in place (the long white clip that each end goes inside the big round section)

ive glued it ,and left it last night/today,not had a look at it, but can that clip be purchased ? or by any miracle does anyone have one ?

i tried the mirror with it snapped, but then realised that the glass is then loose

arggggggghhhhhhh

I think you can get the clips if not a breakers , sounds like the plastic teeth on the motors cogs have worn or got stiff and need cleaning/ greasing orwhole wing mirror needs replacing £40/ 60 breakers

if youd read what i said properly , id already purchased one of those square black clips ,it the WHITE LONG clip that sits in the center of that, about a 1.5 inch white clip

however, i glued it ,and glued a tiny piece of plastic over the top of the crack, and it seems to be ok, ive fitted the glass back in and it seems good to go, motor works now, not perfect but its ok to ajust and better than not, so im happy with it
