hello everyone, I brought my 4.6 P38 Range Rover last year and it came with aftermarket 22" alloys, I have found that the car seems to wander and follow the ruts in the road and have been told by tyre companies that its because the wheels and tyres are too big.
I have had the steering box checked and all the bushes so its not that.

I’m now thinking of buying a second hand set of smaller wheels. I’m thinking of 18 or 19" wheels.

Would a set of 19" Range Rover sport wheels fit straight on? and has anyone tried them on a P38?

Is there anyone out there in NI selling a set of 18 0r 19" wheels to fit?

And is anyone looking for a set of OZ 22" black alloys and tyres?

thanks in advance

You have to change the bolts for Range Rover sport wheels.... except there is a good chance yours have already been changed to take the 22"'s - If so I may interested in your 22"'s for a RR sport

I have 18 inch wheels on my DHSE and that used to tramline badly. I had all the steering and suspension bushes checked (they were ok) and replaced the steering damper. I then read on here about the eas effecting steering so checked that using RSW cable and software and it now seems as good as any. My neighbour has a mitzi on wide tyres and he reckons he gets the same effect. Steering damper made a big difference to mine.

Anything bigger than 18 inch can be a problem on the P38. 18 inch can also we a problem with the wrong tyres. The P38 seems to be very fussy about tyres on anything larger than a 16 inch rim.

I've got 18 inch Hurricanes with General Grabber AT2s on and it seems happy with that. I had Pirelli Scorpion STs on it originally and they were also good, but they're obsolete now and the Scorpion STRs that replaced them were so bad they were dangerous.

Plenty of posts on here about tyre choices.

If you put the 19's off the later shape Range you need the bolts but also importantly the hub on the later car is larger so you will need spigots to ensure the wheels sit snuggly on the hub, I found a set on Ebay for £20 and the difference was significant. Hope this helps.

Also over inflation of the fronmt tyres often causes bad steering wandering etc
