There I was happily wading away in the belief that my P38 DT Manual didn't need any wading plugs:D, (manual doesn't mention the need for them) and never having a problem.... then I happened to watch the section on wading in an LRO DVD, the narrator stated that ALL Land Rover products require wading plugs in the bell housing:eek:, even if they don't need a timing cover one.
Help! Who's right? a google search of P38 and wading plug brings up nothing useful. If I've been wrong all this time, what damage am I likely to be facing?

Well mine has one in the timing cover but the bell housing is sealed, and the manual clearly says it doesn't need one.
So I'd check that before I believe the guy on the video.

Mine's an auto box, and that's why no hole - it's all sealed apparently (though the 'hole' is still there - presumably it's blocked on the inside).
