Sunroof doesn't work and dash warning says 'sunroof open' when I turn off the ignition. Loving the new car:rolleyes:.

It all reminds me of those old comedy routines where a dodgy plumbers work would result in the toilet flushing if you turn on the hot tap and the shower starting when you flush the loo! Very 70's sitcom.

Can anyone suggest a solution to my comedy Range Rover? Recently acquired to replace a write off and I'll learn to love it if I can get a few niggles sorted. Either that or I sell it on to a circus for the clowns routine. I think I could get the doors to fall off on demand!

:D

Long shot and I have no idea whether this has anything to do with it BUT have you got the manual winder thingamajig that comes with the vehicle incase you need to close the roof in an emergency??

Im wondering if someone used it to close the roof as it failed open and then left it like that.

In the owners manual it says that once the handle has been used to close the roof you need to turn the handle a quarter turn back to re-engage the mechanism.

Im wondering if you gave the handle a try to see if the motor is dis-engaged. If it isnt, try turning it to actually dis-engage the motor and then see if it operates at all.

Of course this is all guesswork so I might be all wrong.

The only other thing I can think of is the BeCM has got confused about it's 'set' position, have you tried disconnecting for a minute or so and then reconnecting?? (you may need your EKA code and you will need your radio code) This way the BeCM will loose all the info about the windows and sunroofs 'set' positions requiring you to reset them all again.

Lastly, and most probably the motor has failed and needs to be replaced but I would be trying the above things and then using the ETM to check for voltage at the relevant plugs at the motor itself and then at the BeCM end.

Let us know how it goes

Got hold of a sunroof key and tried your suggestion, which hasn't resolved it. The motor turns but it sunds like the gear teeth are slipping against a cog. I'll take it apart and see what horrors lurk beneath.

Is it me or is it hot in here?!
