Hi all, New to this so please be gentle.
My recently purchased 2000 P38 vogue stereo plays great from nearside speakers but just hisses from drivers side, no music at all. Same whether radio or CD. I believe system is Harmon Kardon, says so on speakers anyway. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Well painless one's anyway.

:drum:

Remove the door card and see if any water has got into the amp (i take it you mean the front only). If there is water in there the amp will blow.
You can test the speaker by wiring it direct to another source ie mp3 player with headphone jack and a cut lead. Dont do it with the amp plugged in!
If the speaker works fine this way, renew the amp, ebay about £10.
Hope this helps.

it will more than likely be the dsp amp hidden in the rear quarter panel behind the subwoofer about £300+ for a new one,a very popular problem with the vogue models.

i replaced the door amps aswell as other bits, in the end i got sick of it,so i ripped the whole h+k system out.and put in an after market setup,which was still cheaper than buying a new dsp amp.and sold all the k+k stuff on fleabay to make some cash back.

It's front and rear but it's a starting point. Thanks.

i bought a cable that fits my sony head unit to control volume,but thats it,but it is a dvd system that was on clearance from halfrauds,so if i sell the car i don,t think it would devalue that much

do you get the amp settings up on the head unit don,just thinking if it could be the head unit at fault,but you will find on the vogue models the 2 front door speakers and tweeters work from the back of the stereo,the rest of the speakers and sub work from the dsp amp which is behind the subwoofer hidden in the quarter panel,maybe check all the connections aswell

I get options for dsp and sub woofer. Weather permitting I will try and remove the stereo tommorow and start checking all connections. Might have to get some keys to remove head unit though.

if you have a plastic cubby box above the stereo just pull that out,you can get your hands in to press the 2 prongs down to release the stereo,if you have the sat nav then you will need the keys

Thanks Andy, no sat nav so I'll give it a go. Watch this space.
++++
Removed stereo today and all connections seem fine.
Will come back to this when I have more time. Only had the car a week and lots of things to fix, Air con - Reverse sensors - Dippy mirrors - rear screen washers etc etc etc.
