Hi, I've bought a pair of side steps original eqpt with the angled brackets. I've mated up the brackets on the chassis but don't have the nuts to screw in to it, are there captive nuts behind the holes in the chassis and what size bolts do I need? Thanks in advance. hi, not to sure but have seen on ebay these one and they say there is captive nuts.9looking around for some myself) item number 330335739033. sure someone will come along and say.

My model is a late Nov 99' and looking on the chassis the diameter of the holes are some 13mm, the bolts bought with the side steps are 13mm head and I guess 8mm thread. Space between on the chassis is approx 41". If you're interested you could but these if my model won't accpet them?

Just spoke to my local RR dealer, he tells me they use riv nuts which require a special tool to install them, 10 nuts he's quoting £50...... eBay looks a better buy if I can work out how to fix them.

I bought a new set from Britpart, exactly the same as genuine items, just no Land Rover logo, etc.

They came with some special nuts that fit in the holes in the chassis and when you tighten them up they squash inside the chassis.

if you look on the rave disk it tells you which nuts to use, its under side runners in the accessories section!!!

it looks like some special captive nuts are used, kinda like rawl plugs!!!

I have recently fitted side steps to mine and was given rivnuts with the fitting kit. Mine are a 10mm thread but the old ones that I drilled out were 8mm. If LR are asking £50 then you might want to try kit car forums or ebay as you can get them much cheaper.

Rivnuts are pretty easy to fit you can get a tool on ebay for about £15 but if your a tight arse like me then a long bolt with nut and two spanners will do the job.
