Does anyone know if its at all possible to perform a P38 Rear light conversion using RR v3 / RR Sport rear lights?

I'm thinking of doing the whole cosmetic thing ie front lights, grille and side vents, but was wondering if the rears were also a possibility?

Any takers?

BTW, on a side note, does anyone think that putting the NEW Freelander 2 side vents on instead of RR Sports ones a better idea as you get to keep the side repeaters?

TIA

hope this is of some use to you its the whole back end from a l322 (rr3) on a p38

Cheers! Thats EXACTLY what I was looking for! Does anyone know how or what to do with the tailgate?

Do I need just the L322 tailgate or do you need the L322 top boot lid aswell? Any more information on this would be really appreciated.

Again cheers in advance!

I dont want to pee on your parade or whatever BUT if you want the L322 look, well, just go and buy a L322 Range Rover?? By the time you have spent all your ££ on converting the P38 then surely you will have spent enough combined with the purchase price of the original vehicle to just go and buy an early petrol MkIII?? Ive seen some go for as little as £15/16k if that.

Messing with the P38 trying to convert it to the new look is wrong, the lights are out of proportion with the rest of the thing. If I wanted the L322 look I would just go and buy one... :/

As I said I dont wanna **** on your parade but think long and carefully before you start spending money trying to convert and cut up your P38.

I know what your saying, but my uncle is in the car trade and I picked up my P38 for ....welll lets say at less than "trade price". I have enough profit margin between what I paid and what the true retail price would be that I can afford to do this.

Secondly, and a top tip for all potential L322 buyers, I know for a fact that the 2002-2003 L322's are a pile of rubbish as my friend is an official RR engineer and P38 owner himself and works on all current models. The early L322's are well known to be problematic and should be avoided at all costs. ONLY buy a L322 from 2004 onwards. This means that for £15K your potentially going to spend a ton of money on a RR L322 to sort it out.

Lastly, as your a P38 owner like myself, I can appreciate that you bought your P38 for a P38 and its whole look. To you and other P38 purists, what I'm considering is sacrilage! and I truly understand that. But sometimes its nice pimp your ride and make it look different or simply bring it up to date.

I completely understand why some people just wouldnt consider what I'm hoping to do.

the car that is on their homepage is the same 1 i sent you the back end of, i saw it for sale a while back and saved the pics of it.

the 2007 front end is far superior and seems to be in proportion to the p38 as oposed to the older spec l322 lights, also if your looking at the conversion on that website dont be fooled by the price.

lastly i know your determined to do this conversion but please bear in mind what a head ache its going to be and you may well wish you never started it, the easy way to pimp the p38 is big wheels and a nice paint job like this:

Thanks for your input, can I ask how much it cost you to respray your P38 roughly? I was thinking of doing a whole respray as my P38 is a dark greeny/blue (unsure what official RR colour it is off the top of my head). Seen alot of P38's in lighter colours and they tend to stand out more. Of course the simple black makes it very sexy.

At this point I'm unsure what colour I'm thinking of but perhaps a dark metalic cyan is what I'm thinking.....reason being I have light stone with blue piping for an interior.

At the moment I'm just bashing ideas around at the minute.....but the total conversion is what i intend to do at some point cash permitting.

the p38 in the pic is not mine but has inspired me i got it off of the forum before it went down not sure if the gallery is up & running again, anyway it belongs to a member on the forum and if i remember correctly the colour is by house of colours and is a flip.

mines needs a respray anyway and it all comes down to cost as i have other projects at the moment so i may leave it the same colour or go for a flip when i have the ime and money.
