p38 problem

Hi to all and anyone who can help,i'm new to this site but i.m sure someone can solve this problem,I have a 95 p38 which started and drove fine until yesterday,as i was driving it made a bang from underneath and sort of lost a bit of power,then drove ok for about half a mile then totaly died,(on a roundabout) after about 2/3 minutes it started again but only enough to get me into a car park,now it wont start,help please.....

Turbo would've been my first inclination, but I'm not sure as to why that would've made the engine die after a bit of driving. Sorry of that's not much help.

i just picked my motor back up and it started and drove fine,could the problem be with the cat by any chance .

Is it a V8 or diesel? I just assumed diesel.
