I'm considering buying a newer version of the Range Rover so am in a quandry do I go for the P38 with it's smaller boot space (Vital component for me) or do I go for a late 3.9 remove the engine and replace with a newer engine ?

Give me some opinions (I cannot offord the new supercharged Range Rover less someone has one for free)

I seem to remember reading the P38 has a 50% bigger boot space than the Classic, having owned a Classic and now owning a P38 I have to agree. If you can live with an average 17mpg go for a 4.6HSE if on the other hand you dont mind planning pulling away from junctions well in advance go for 2.5 diesel. The P38 is a universe away from the Classic in terms of luxuary and refinement and complexity. Occasionly- just occasionaly, I long for the days of my old 2.5VM Classic.

im guessing u dont have a rangie for the 0-60 stats. i certainly dont. ive got the 2.5 diesel p38, and i find it just fine. i couldnt justify paying the extra for a 4.6 petrol, just to get to 60 mph a few seconds quicker, so flaming what. the bmw diesel does do a comfortable 30mpg, and with an uprated intercooler and chip, can do a possible 44+mpg, which is bloody good.

as for boot size? i cant compare as ive never had a classic, all i know is my dog loves his boot space :)
